G's World (Tour)

A 26yo Vancouverite who wants to see the whole world eventually!

So far: #GsWorldTour (12 countries, 32 cities, 192 days), #GInAsia1 (14 days in Guangzhou, Hong Kong & Seoul), plus countless trips around North America

9/16/14 @ 930pm: After 4 intense days, #GSKSParis took the day off. We ended up having dinner with Kevin at Cafe Marco Polo (ironic since we couldnt find each other at Gare Saint Lazare). Good to see a fellow Vancouverite and exchange travel stories :) (at Café Marco Polo)

9/15/14 @ 9pm: #GSKSParis ended Day 4 waiting for this moment. The gf had never seen the Eiffel Tower twinkle; shes dreamed of watching it in person. Totally worth the wait :) Paris truly is the City of Lights (and Love). (at Jardins du Trocadéro)

9/15/14 @ 2-3pm: The views from the summit of the Eiffel Tower were even MORE breathtaking! #GsWorldTour was in Paris in Winter so the summit was closed, 2nd floor only. #GSKSParis waited 1.5hrs but it was totally worth it! Jaw dropping views from 281m up! The Champ de Mars & Ecole Militaire to the SE, Les Invalides, Napoleon’s Tomb, Le Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Sacre Coeur, La Seine, Notre Dame and more to the NE, and the Palais de Chaillot & Jardins du Trocadero to the NW. We didnt want to come down. (at Sommet Tour Eiffel)

9/14/14 @ 11pm: To end Day 3, #GSKSParis walked to Moulin Rouge since it is only 10 mins away from our apartment… what we didnt realize is that means we live next to the red light district. Sex shops, strip clubs, creepy dudes and tourists galore lol. Voulez vous couchez avec moi, ce soir? (at Cabaret Le Moulin Rouge)

9/14/14 @ 4pm: 3rd church of #GSKSParis Day 3, Cathedrale Notre Dame de Paris, of course. My 2nd time seeing Notre Dame and it still took my breath away, especially those gargoyles outside and the stained glass windows inside. Sunday mass was going on; a beautiful service in a beautiful space. I cant imagine what it feels like to pray in the same place your ancestors may have nearly a millenium ago. (at Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris)

9/14/14 @ 1230pm: Unlike the Jardins des Tuileries, the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Palais du Luxembourg blew us away; never made it here on #GsWorldTour. The flowers were so colourful and the gardens so expansive and perfectly sculpted but what really blew us away was the Fontaine Medicis (Medici Fountain). Such impressive work! (at Jardin du Luxembourg)

9/14/14 @ 11am: Sunday is the Lord’s day so #GSKSParis hit up 3 churches today lol. The first two were in the historic Saint Germain neighbourhood in the 6th arrondissement, Saint-Germain-des-Pres (been around since the 6th century, namesake of the area) and Saint Sulpice (2nd tallest church in Paris and featured in the Da Vinci Code). (at Saint-Germain-des-Prés)

8/13/14 @ 730-930pm: After #GSKSParis walked through the Jardins des Tuileries, the sun began to set as we walked under the Arc De La Triomphe Du Carrousel, across from the Louvre. We wanted to see the Palais Garnier (Opera House) lit up at night so we had dinner near Place de L’Opera at a cute lil italian restaurant, Gambino awesome end to Day 2 :) (at Place de l’Opéra)

8/13/14 @ 530-630pm: #GSKSParis visits Napoleon’s Tomb/Les Invalides/Musee De L’Armee then we sat down and enjoyed some Laduree macarons we got from Champs Elysees while chilling in Place De La Concorde and enjoying the hustle and bustle around the Luxor Obelisk and its two grandiose fountains :) (at Musee De L’armee-Tombeau De Napoleon)

8/13/14 @ 3-5pm: After the Arc, #GSKSParis walked all over the Champs Elysees, before spending 2hrs inside the Petit Palais (Fine Arts Museum) and on Pont Alexandre III. The attention to detail in all the artworks and architecture is stunning. So lucky my gf likes exploring by foot and is a nerd like me :) (at Pont Alexandre III)

8/13/14 @ 11am: Day 2 of #GSKSParis started at the Arc de Triomphe. Triumphant is right, forgot how enormous it is! The views from the top, spectacular. 360° views of Paris for 9.50€, worth it, even if you have to climb 284 steps. Great start to the day :) (at Arc de Triomphe)

9/12/14 @ 6pm: Tired but had to show the gf the Galeries Lafayette, one of the most beautiful malls I’ve ever been to. 8 floors of the most posh stuff ever, all housed under a gorgeous stained glass dome, and then a terrace rises above it all with a spectacular 270° view of Paris. Bonjour Eiffel Tower & Palais Garnier aka Opera. (at Galeries Lafayette)

9/12/14 @ 2pm: First stop in Paris, the Sacre Coeur in Montmarte! So majestic inside and out; that view, amazing. The gf and I couldnt sleep on any of our 3 flights, we ended up pulling an all-nighter. Exhausted so we walked around our neighbourhood today, the 9th arrondissement. (at Sacré-Cœur, Paris)
